The Beatitudes

The Jews were expecting Christ to reveal that He is the promised Messiah. The King that would rule. Reveal that they were the chosen people of God, the greatest amongst the inhabitants of the Earth. They surely believed they would be set free from the Roman Empire. But when Jesus uttered the following words out of His mouth “Blessed are the ..” the Jews opened their mouths in shock. It was not what they expected at all.

So what was Jesus trying to do? Was he trying to destroy their demeanour? Absolutely not! In fact He was displaying the characteristics of the Christian walk.

Do you love me? – Jesus

Dear Diary,

Today, I went to a beach not too far from home. I was walking alongside the crystal clear waters. The atmosphere was amazing. The sun was about to set. I happened to come across a bed rock where I could look out to the sea. Ah the sound of the waves really gets to me, I love it. I sat by the edge, glancing, as usual I am mesmerised by the work of His hand.

Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD!

Before we begin lets start off with an interesting fact that many of you probably do not know!

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

The word “God” in Genesis 1:1 is plural. See the below:

  • “God =  0430 ‘elohiym {el-o-heem’}  in STRONGS Concordance.

Elohim = “Gods” which means more than one being! From this we now know that the word “God” means there is more than one individual in the Godhead. In this context, we now understand that the plural word “God” or “Elohim” in hebrew is referring to the three distinct persons; The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
